The Long Center is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Development Manager to drive key fundraising initiatives with a focus on membership groups, donor stewardship, and grant coordination. This role will manage donor relationships, oversee donor engagement events, and support fundraising campaigns to strengthen the Long Center’s philanthropic efforts. The Development Manager will play a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission by cultivating meaningful connections with donors, ensuring seamless execution of fundraising events, and managing grant opportunities to sustain and grow community support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to the following:

Fundraising & Donor Relations

  • Develop and execute strategy for membership and patron groups, including recruitment, retention, and stewardship in coordination with the VP of Advancement.
  • Manage a portfolio of 25–50 active donors, cultivating relationships to increase engagement and giving.
  • Prepare and manage donor renewals and acknowledgments, ensuring timely recognition and stewardship.
  • Track and coordinate fulfillment of donor benefits across events, patron groups, recognition opportunities, and other initiatives.

Event Coordination & Stewardship

  • Lead Icon Awards coordination for the development department and support other major fundraising events as needed.
  • Plan and execute patron group recruitment and stewardship events to engage current and prospective donors.
  • Support the planning and management of the member lounge at LCP shows and The Drop-In, attending events to ensure a high-quality donor experience.

Grant & Proposal Management

  • Source, track, and maintain the grants calendar, ensuring timely submission of proposals and reports.
  • Prepare grant proposal drafts and reports, coordinating with internal departments to track deliverables.
  • Draft proposals for foundations and individual donors as needed.

Campaigns & Annual Giving

  • Assist in annual budgeting and strategy development for annual drives.
  • Manage and coordinate Amplify Austin fundraising efforts each year.
  • Support end-of-year giving campaigns and donor outreach initiatives in coordination with the CEO office.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and training plus 3–5 years of development experience, preferably in a nonprofit or arts organization.
  • Strong event planning, fundraising, and donor relations experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CRM or donor management systems, Tessitura preferred.

Salary and Benefits

The starting range for this position is $55-$60k annually. In addition to salary, The Long Center offers robust benefits to all full-time employees including:

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This is an exciting opportunity to shape donor engagement and fundraising efforts at one of Austin’s premier Performing Arts Centers. This flexible hybrid role is expected to regularly report to work onsite at the Long Center with a variable schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
